GREEN ISLAND DRAINAGE.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —I regret that in my remarks on Saturday 1 did not set out the particulars of the ocean outfall in the same terms as stated in the requisition from the Board of Health. The requisition states; “ That the outfall sewer be carried out not less than 50ft below low-water mark of spring tides, provided, further, that should the discharge of sewage in the locality indicated in the plans ■be found objectionable the sewage outfall to be carried to the point at Black Head on being called on to do so by the Health -Department.” 1 have provided for both these conditions. The grade of the beach at this particular locality is 1 in 54, and my remarks that the sewage would he discharging Ift below the level of low water ordinary spring tides mean that the sewage will be discharging 54ft out beyond low-water mark of spring tides. Further, the penstock is placed at such a level that it will have sufficient fall to carry the sewage to Black Head, should the Health Department require it. The actual plans prepared for these conditions are in my possession, and show this is the intention of the members of the Board of Health. —I am, etc., F. J. Williams, Borough Engineer. April 2.
