Dr W, S. Seed, who succeeds Mr A. E. M'Phail as president of the Canterbury Rugby Union, has had a long connection with tho game both as a player and as an official and his election is a very popular one (says an exchange). After learning his football at Christchurch Boys’ High School, he joined the Old Boys’ Club and played for the senior team in 1906, 1907, and 1908. Later he wont to Otago University and played for the University team for three seasons, as well as representing New Zealand University against Sydney University. Returning to Christchurch, he was again actively associated with the game for some time, and after retiring as a player was elected to the management committee of tho union in 1922. Since then lie has given a great deal of valuable work on the administrative side, particularly in regard to finance and competition matters.
