(Received April 1, at 10 a.m.) Hoping to solve the problems of conquering Alount Everest and also high Hying, twelve men under thirty years of age are assembling at Antofagasta (Chile) from all parts of the world in April for the purpose of forming a high altitude expedition under the leadership of Mr B. H. C. Matthews. They will occupy a laboratory fourteen thousand feet up among the snows of the Andes, and will undergo exercises in starvation for the purpose of recording symptoms and heart beats, using a stationary bicycle ergometer to record the energy expended while pedalling. The' breath will be caught in a bag for testing. The expedition will also examine the effects of physical efforts at various altitudes on the brain, which, it is believed, gives out first, recalling the Everest climber who forgot what a camera was for.
