MOTORING ACCIDENTS
FOUR DEATHS IN AUSTRALIA SEVERAL PERSONS INJURED SYDNEY, March 31. Four people were killed and several injured in motoring accidents during the week-end.
In a collision between their motor car and a motor lorry, Ronald Baxter, aged l thirtv-one, and Thomas Foley, aged fifty-five, were killed. Ernest Baxter,, aged thirty-three,, and Charles Pearce, , aged fifty-eight, were injured. The Baxters were brothers. Ernest Baxter was .formerly Australian lightweight boxing champion. Two. men were critically injured when their motor cycles collided and hurst into flames. Frank Roberts suffered a fractured log and a broken arm, and l William Charles Williamson, aged twenty-three, received a fractured skull. The latter subsequently died. . , , A car, driven by a girl whose name is believed to be Gonnerson, left the road- when attempting to turn on to a bridge. It turned over twice - and crashed into a pole. -Miss Gonnerson and her sister were critically injured and are not expected to live. -Another passenger, a man named Whitworth, was killed, • ■ . In Melbourne two racing motorists were injured, one fatally, when, during a test run, their car swerved vio lentlv and ran up an embankment and piled un against a tree. Leslie Cramp, who was driving, was killed, and Reginald Leslie, his mechanic, was injured.
