MA TIELMAN IMS Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyrighf JOHANNESBURG. March 27. The death has occured suddenly o 5 Air Tielman Roes, following a heart attack. [Known as the “ stormy petrel ofi South African politics ” and imbued with Boer sentiments of the old school,-, Mr Tielman J. de V. Roos, K.C., was a; picturesque figure. As the member for; Lichtenburg he entered the Union Par-4 liament in 1915, and in 1924 he waV appointed Minister of Justice in the first Nationalist Government. On various points he was not in agreement with! his Ministerial colleagues, and on tliai grounds of ill-health he resigned- from! office. Later he was appointed judged of the Court of Appeal, but, after fill-1 ing this position for seven or _ eight! vears, he becanVe restless and resigned.He re-entered the political arena in! 1932, hoping to play a leading part and form a stronger party. These attempts* however, were frustrated by the format tion of,the coalition between General? Hertzog and General Smuts, leader* of the Nationalist and South Africa of Parties respectively.]
