DECREASE IN STUDENTS [Pan Ukit*d Pr*e« Aibociatiok.l WELLINGTON, March 29. The classes a* Victoria University College so far this year total 1,528 students, against 1,775 last year. The principal details are : —Economics 14G, against 97 last year; English, 93 (97); Chemistry, 88 (98); physics, 81 (82); French, 74 (99) ; Latin, 72 (GG) ; history, 66 (85). The Jacob Joseph Scholarships have been awarded by the college council to H. Rosen, first-class honours in law, to D. E. Andrews firstclass honours in chemistry, and to Miss Mary Boyd first-class honours in zoology. The council'has also approved the granting of the following: —The James Macintosh Scholarships; Travelling Scholarship of £250, tenable for two years, to A. E. Fieldhouse; local scholarship of £IOO, to G., Halliday ; Sir Robert Stout Scholarship, to C. M. 1. Brown.
