St. Kilda.—l cannot see any reason for the blackberry jelly to remain like syrup. As a rule this mixture jells very quickly. I should try one of the pectin preparations obtainable at any grocery store, and boil up again. “ Eve.” —Savoury sandwich paste is made as follows;—11b beef steak, Jib butter. Cut up the meat and place in a covered jar with the butter and steam for three hours. Add two or three red herrings which have been skinned and from which the bones have been removed. Steam for another hour. Take out the meat and put through the mincer twice, and then mix thoroughly with the liquid.
