ROAD ACCIDENTS

PROBLEM OF PEDAL CYCLISTS MEASURES IN BRITAIN. Press Association —By Telegraph—Copyright RUGBY. February 28. Replying to a question in the House of Commons regarding the attitude of pedal cyclists towards the restrictions imposed upon their use of the roads by the recent regulations, the Minister of Transport (Mr Horo-Belisha) said that nca'rlv one-fifth of those killed on the roads wore pedal cyclists. The increase in tlie number of pedal cyclists killed in 1933, compared with 1928, was 96 per cent., whereas the corresponding figure for pedestrians was only 8 per cent. Pedal cyclists constituted the major part of the problem of road accidents. He was confident the House would sustain him in taking all measures that might be practicable to circumscribe this peril, particularly when such measures added to tho convenience of pedal cyclists themselves.
