PROTESTANT ALLIANCE
The fortnightly meeting of Triumph, No. 9, was held on Thursday last, W.M. Bro. Mathewson presiding over a large attendance of officers and niemmers. One candidate was initiated. A challenge will shortly be played off with Valley True Blue for the euchre shield. An invitation to the L.O.L. church parade at Sawyers Bay was accepted. Lodge business was soon disposed of, and a very enjoyable social evening was held. Despite the warm weather the seventy couples present thoroughly enjoyed tho evening. Excellent music was provided by the Triumph Band. R.M.’s Bros. O’Neill and Perrin ably carried out the duties of M.C.s, the dancing concluding at midnight. At the fortnightly meeting of Valley True Blue W.M, Bro. Reid presided over a large attendance of members. Visitors present included P.M.’s Perrin and Hellyer, and Jackson, of No. 9. W.G.M. Bro. Harvey reported on the annual picnic which was held at Bethune’s Gully on February 23. Owing to many counter-attractions the attendance wag disappointing, but those present spent a very enjoyable afternoon, the opinion being expressed that an ideal spot for a picnic had been chosen. The question of changing the lodge room was held over in the meantime. After lodge, a very enjoyable social was held. ' There was a splendid attendance, and the success of future socials is assured. Items were rendered by Misses Hodge and Drysdale and Bro. Jackson. The music was provided by Sister Robinson, proceedings being in tho hands of D.M. Bro. Campbell.
