ST. CLAIR CARNIVAL
A large crowd of happy joy-makers is anticipated on the St. Clair Esplanade this evening. The proceedings will be commenced with the arrival of the “ Mayor of White Island,” by aeroplane, and this will be followed by the official opening, which will mark the first time the surf at St. Clair has been illuminated by floodlights. The Life Saving Club will be very active and will man all life-saving canoes in the surf. The organisers (the St. Clair Improvement Association) have taken pains to make this fixture an outstanding success. There will be numerous stalls. Those who wish to dance may use the cabaret, whilst those who wish to try their skill at the new games will find ample scope for their requirements. Music will be provided by the Otago Regimental Band. The proceeds are to be devoted to the further improvement of the Ocean Beach.
