LATE BISHOP SADLIER
SERVICE OF REMEMBRANCE (Per United Press Association.) NELSON, February 4. A largely attended service of remembrance was held at the cathedral yesterday in connection with the death of Bishop Sadlier. The preacher was the Bishop of Nelson, who paid a glowing tribute to his predecessor’s twenty-two years’ service for the Nelson diocese and New Zealand. Bishop Sadlier, he said, was a loving father in God to all, and the friend of all denominations. In addition to deep spirituality, he had had remarkable business and legal knowledge, and bis work in the diocese was monumental. There was sympathy for the bereaved family, but no tears and no sorrow, but songs of thankfulness for the life that had been given to them; and they honoured him with affectionate remembrance.
Special reference was also made by other denominations.
