■ ■<> SHIRLEY TEMPLE IN STATE'S DRAMA Tho notable feature of the entertaining film, ‘ Baby Take a bow,’ which will open a season at the State on .Friday, is the remrakable artistry revealed by the five-year-old Shirley Temple. This young actress recently appeared in ‘Stand Up and Cheer’ and astounded critics by her acting. Apart from her undoubted genius, her audiences are captivated by tho quaint assurance of deportment of this self-possessed child. She is well supported by James Dunn and Claire Trevor, who give splendid performances as her parents. The film is a fast-moving comedy drama which maintains its briskness to the end. Tho story deals with the struggle for happiness and success of a young man just out of prison and his wife. Following the theft of some valuable pearls from the home of the husband’s employer, suspicion points to the innocent ex-criminal. The real thief gives the pearls to the baby to avoid detection. He returns to recover the pearls, and the climax is reached in a desperate revolver duel between the thief and police officers. Shirley Temple is also given an opportunity to display her dancing ability.
