GEXEVA, January 22.—Xiueteen countries have ratified the convention protecting whales, particularly the rarer species. It applies to all the waters of the world. It abso* lately prohibits the killing or taking of calves or females accompanied by suckling whales. It also regulates the chartering and registration of whaling ships. YEARLtXG SALES.
