BRITISH FARMERS
LIVE STtKJK INDUSTRY APPEAL TO GOVERNMENT Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, January 16. At the Farmers’ Union meeting, after a debate, the following resolution was carried by acclamation: : —“ This meeting expresses anxiety at the deplorable position of the live stock industry’ in view of the agreement with the Free State and imports _ from .the dominions and foreign countries in excess of market requirements," and presses the Government to' issue a statement directly Parliament reassembles. Unless speedy recognition is given to the principle that the home producer is entitled to first place in his own market under conditions ensuring the economic wellbeing of live stock producers the virtual bankruptcy*of the industry at an early date is inevitable.”
