N.R.A. MEETING The programmes for several rifle meetings have come to hand, the most important being the annual rifle meeting of the National Rifle Association of New Zealand, which is to be held at Trentham from March 1 to March G next.'

The list of prizes is an imposing one —7OS) cash prizes of a value of £1,031, nine silver miniature cups, and eleven gold and silver medals. The opening match is the King and Henry match (not to count for the belt), which is to be fired from the 300, (300, and 800 yards mounds, seven shots at each distance. There are fiftysix prizes in the A grade (valued at £64.), and fifteen prizes in the B grade (£l6). The A senes (service) comprises No. 2 match (300yds)—seven shots application, two sighting shots (compulsory) ; ten shots rapid (no sighting shots); ten rounds snap shooting (no sighting shots). No. 3 match is from 200yds (tile competition; 5 shots; iron plates or tiles; tile practice repeated; moving target; six shots; target crossing figure 6). The prize list for matches 2 and 3 in each case comprises thirtyfour prizes of a value of £32. No. 4 match is the service championship (600yds, ten shots). It comprises; Application—two compulsory sighters ; time 12min. Open to the forty highest aggregate scorers in matches 2 and 3, A series. The scores made in this match will be added to the scores made in matches 2 and 3, and the highest grand aggregate scorer will become the winner of the service championship. There are twenty-six prizes (£25). Five prizes are awax'ded for the champion service teams match of a value of £lO, teams consisting of four men.

The A grade classification is: All competitors who have been in the King’s final, or who have won a single prize of more than £1 at any New Zealand championship, N.R.A., or State, meeting in the last five competitions attended, service shooting excepted. Thfe matches in the B series are: No. 6, Canterbury Match (300yds, ten shots); No. 7, Otago Match (300yds, ten shots); No. 8, Hawke’s Bay Match (600yds, ten shots); No. 9, Wellington Match _ (500, 600 yards, ten shots at each distance); No. 10, Taranaki Match (800yds, ten shots) ; No. 11, Auckland Match (800, 900 yards, ten shots at each distance); No. 12, Witcombe and Caldwell Match (900yds, ten shots). The prize list for matches from Nos. 6 to 12 comprises fifty-six prizes (valued at £64) in the A grade, and fifteen prizes (valued at £l6) in the B grade. Match No. 13 is the King’s A grade, open to the forty highest aggregate scorers in matches 6,7, 8,9, 10, 11. 12, B series. The scores made in this match will be added to the scores made in matches 6,7, 8,9, 10, 11, 12, and the highest grand aggregate scorer will become the winner of the King’s Prize and the holder of the championship rifle belt for 1935. The holder of the belt must be a member of the Ncw Zealand Defence Forces,

There will be forty prizes (£115), and the twenty highest scorers in “ King’s ” grand final each receive a N.R.A. arm badge. The winner of the “ King’s ” will hold for one year the Ballinger rifle champion belt (won outright by Mr Arthur S. Ballinger, Wellington, and presented by him to the National Rifle Association of New Zealand for competition). No. 14 is the grand aggregate for the highest aggregate in matches Nos. I, 2,6, 7,8, 9, 10, 11, and 12, and the B grade aggregate is for the highest aggregate in matches 6,7, 8,9, 10, 11, 12. There are several other optional aggregates with valuable prizes, and for the champion teams match five prizes of a value of £35, teams consisting of four men. The teams match for longrange shooting (B series, matches 10, 11, and 12) is open to teams of four men from any territorial company, senior cadet company, or defence rifle club of New Zealand, The rifle club champion team match is open to teams of any four from any defence rifle club in New Zealand. MINIATURE RIFLE SHOOTING. The New Zealand Miniature Rifle Association will hold the New Zealand small-bore rifle championship at Trentham on March 2, the prize money for this meeting totalling £l4O.

CENTENARY GAMES NEW ZEALAND TEAM SAILS [Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, January 17.

The New Zealand representatives at the Centenary Games were met to-day prior to leaving by the Wanganclia by members of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association, the Wellington Centre, and the Wellington Amateur Athletic Club.

Mr M'Villy, president of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association, gave the team advice in regard to loyalty and sportsmanship, and announced that in order to assist the manager the council had decided" to appoint Mr Maofarlane captain of the team.

The manager (Mr 'Towers) replied, and Mr Kitto, president of the Wellington Centre, and one of the selectors of the team, expressed their absolute confidence in it to make a name for itself. The experience gained would be of value in building up a strong combination for the next Olympic Games.
