LINDBERGH BABY CASE
INFORMER LIVING IN ENGLAND DESCRIBES GRIME TO NEWSPAPER Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, December 30. (Received December 31, at 9 a.m.) The ‘ People ’ states . that the man who supplied the information leading to the arrest of Hauptman for the murder of the Lindbergh baby, is living iii England at a seaside town, fearing the vengeance of gangsters. He is known as “ Tommy-Gun ” Tex Burns. He is British-born, but has spent nearly all his life in America. He said that finding himself penniless and stranded here after deportation frorn America, he went to the American Consul and “ squealed ” to save his wife and family from starvation.
Burns told the ‘ People’s ’ representative that he himself was implicated in the crime. He described how Hauptman, when carrying the baby down the ladder, slipped and crashed on top of the baby. His confederates hauled both to a car and drove off. Presently they slowed down in order to look at the baby. They discovered it dead and buried it.
