GRENADIER GUARDS' BAND.
TO THE EDITOR. Siiv—Please give me space in your paper to ask who are the powers that be. The visit of the band has been looked forward to with anticipation for months past. A letter from Christchurch shows how disappointed the ordinary people were at not having the opportunity of hearing it. And by the look of things Dunedin citizens who cannot afford to pay 2s entrance to the Town Hall will also be deprived of the pleasure. Surely there are plenty of open spaces the city fathers could give on such an occasion to allow their poorer citizens the same opportunity. We have the Oval if the Caledonian Grounds are taken up with sports meetings, which would be most suitable. Let us live in hopes that before it is too late arrangements will be made so that everyone can hear the band.—l am, etc., Oupha Joxks-Neilson. British Immigrants’ Club. December 31..
