ST; HILDA CHRISTMAS CHtER party / The children of the unemployed of St. Kilda were at, a Christmas cheer party at Tahuna Park on Saturday afternoon; Thomsons ponies, headed bv the Forhury School Brass Band under Conductor F. Toombs, conveyed Father Christmas to the grounds, where he was instantly surrounded by a crowd of excited children, who were given bags of lollies, balloons, squeakers, and whistles. Races were run, ice cream : and soft drinks dispensed, also tea and eatables tempting to the juvenile palate. - After tea Father Christmas presented each child with a suitable gift and a hag of fruit,, after which they were freo to depart. The Mayor of St. Kilda (Mr A. D. Edgar) and Crs Sellar, Anderson, Lovell, and Hunter assisted. His Worship thanked the Ladies’ Committee, the secretary, and all who in any way had assisted to make the function a success. He also thanked all the business people and mends who gave donations in cash" and kind to make the children happy.. .
