' When it was ascertained that the probation officer had not been asked to report, the case was adjourned till Friday; a condition being that’ accused reports daily to the police. RIDING ON PILLION. Alexander Donald Dimick Inglis was convicted without penalty on a charge of riding on a motor cycle pillion on which there were ty*o passengers. The Magistrate pointed out that it was hot a breach of Iriglis’s release, ion probationary license to be a passenger but he was warned that h« must not drive any vehicle. MAINTENANCE. ' An application by Edward Harr.isdii for the variation of a maintenance order was opposed by the Education Department.- The amount was not re-, duced but the order, was varied to the payment -being made ,in respect to one child only, and arrears over £lO were remitted. ■ Percival Henry Moody (Mr F. 6v Dawson) denied a charge of wilfully disobeying a maintenance order, the arrears to November 19 being £95 9*’ 6d. He claimed that he had made regular payments on the street to the children, the. average payments being 10s a week, but he had kept no account of arrears over £1(1 were remitted and the order was varied to 12s 6d a week. was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment, the warrant to be suspended so long as he pays the current .order and 5a a week off the arrears. Arrears over £lB were remitted ii» the order against John Percy Johnson,, who was sentenced to two ’months’ imprisonment, the warrant to be suspended provided he pays £3 before December 31 and £ls in monthly, instalments by the end of March. After hearing evidence on the charge against Robert Greaves of being in arrears of a maintenance order}’ the magistrate remitted the arrears and the amount of the order exceeding £1 was suspended for sis months, Mr W. P. Hartstonge appeared for the; complainant.
