S. W. JARVIS’S TREBLE The' Otago intermediate and junior’ championships were concluded last night at the Dunedin Club’s . hour, when the 440yds intermediate boys’ championship and the 220yds intermediate girls’ championship were decided. The 440yds title was retained by S. W. Jarvis (Dunedin) in much-slower time than his best, this making his third championship success during the week. Miss G. Rix (Dunedin) had little difficulty in retaining the 220yds intermediate girls’ championship in the very fair time of 3min 9sec. Results:— 220 YARDS INTERMEDIATE GIRLS’; CHAMPIONSHIP. ' Title-holder; Miss G. Rix (Dunedin), 3min 12sec. Miss G. Rix (Dunedin) ... ... ... 1 Miss A. Gillies (Kiwi) ... ... ... 2 Miss W. Newall (Dunedin) " ... 3 Only starters. Miss Rix took the lead after the first 50yds, followed by Miss Gillies 3yds hack, with Miss Newall another yard back. Miss Rix forged ahead steadily, and went on to win comfortably from Miss Gillies, Miss Newall some distance . back third. Time, 3min 9sec. 440 YARDS INTERMEDIATE BOYS’ CHAMPIONSHIP. Title-holder; S. W. Jarvis (Dunedin), smin 40sec. S. W. Jarvis (Dunedin) 1 J. Barry (Dunedin) 2 Only starters. The swimmers stayed together until the sixth lap, when Jarvis gained 6yds, which he retained until the last lap, Barry swimming strongly to decrease the distance to 4yds at the finish. Time, 6min 5 l-ssec. Mr D. C. Bannatyne was the starter, the judges were Messrs W. H. Matthews and D. T. Woodfield, Messrs A. Greig and S. Brown were the timekeepers, and Messrs D. Newall and M. Taylor the rope stewards.
