SAILING FOR CAMPBELL ISLANDS 6.000 SHEEP TO BE SHORN fi rs United Press Assoctak ;n.] CHRISTCHURCH, December 14. Five New Zealand shearers with their dogs are about to set out on an adventurous voyage in a specially constructed 30ft boat. They propose to sail to the Campbell Islands, 360 miles south of Stewart Island, shear 6,000 sheep there, and bring the wool back to New Zealand for sale. This they hope To accomplish in tliree months, and if it is successfiil it will be undertaken annually. The voyage will begin in about a week. The party will be led by Air H. Brown, of Cheviot. The sheep were left on the island by Messrs AA 7 arren Brothers, the former lessees of the island, who returned to New Zealand two years and a-half ago, and the sheep passed into the possession of the mortgagees, from whom Mr Brown lias obtained permission to muster and shear the sheep. They wjll liave a growth of three season’s wool.
