Y.W.C.A

BOARD OF DIRECTORS A meeting of the hoard of directors of the Y.W.C.A. .was held on Wednesday, the president being in the chair. It was announced that the vacancy caused by the resignation of Miss Bcr.tha Salmond would be filled by Miss Jean Ewing as sports’ assistant, while Miss Phyllis Hindle would in 1935 assume her new duties as activities secretary with special responsibility for senior clubs and the supervision of work in the Sports’ Department. Miss Edith Hart had accepted the position .of girls’ work secretary, and would commence her duties in March, while Mrs M'Aijghtrie had consented to become business secretary. Discussion on matters of finance resulted in a decision to keep March 29 as Street Day, with a house to house collection the* week prior to that date. The following were appointed voting delegates to the convention :—Mesdaraes C. M. Begg, H, D. Skinner, C. F.' Fowler, Misses Saunders, Hindle, and Lynn. The plans of several other mem- ' bers being uncertain, it was left with the president and secretary to arrange for further delegates’ up to the limit of seventeen as allowed. Departmental reports'as read by the secretaries disclosed that the number of residents in the hostel had increased, and that club activities' had come to the end of their sessions. The Evcrygirl Club was congratulated on its 21st birthday party. The Nativity Masque produced by the Kimi Club was a most attractive performance, and the Christmas c omm unity gathering a most inspiring and happy function. The house

and cafeteria report showed activity in improvements within and without, while theije was practically nothing being required in the Employment Department, except that a number of employers could not find competent domestic help. The meeting was followed by afternoon tea, when Mrs Malcolm, on behalf of the Senior Activities Committee, presented Miss Doreen Black, who concludes her term of office in January, with a pair of crystal goblets.
