The Sunday-school, prize-giving on Monday, 17th, 7.30 p.m. At the St. Hilda Methodist Church services will be conducted by the. Rev'. Eeafcy Paris. At 2.45 p.m. prize-giving will mark the dose of the Sunday .School year., ' In. the evening there will be a Christmas musical service, and at all services retiring collections will be taken for the orphanages. . ■ V A special Christmas musical service will be held in the Maori Hill Presbyterian Church in the evening. , ■ • The Rev. R. T. Dodds will conduct both services at the South Dunedin. Presbyterian Church. In the evening the choir wll render , the cantata ‘ The Message of the Star,’ accompanied by string quartet and organ. The soloists will be Miss Anne White, Miss; Margaret Green, Mr Aubrey Clarke, and Mr Evan TuckweU. At the evening service in - the-i Anderson’s Bay Presbyterian Church the choir will sing a' number of carols. Solos will be rendered by Miss Rai Stubbs and Messrs J. E. Davies and J. Clark. Professor S. F. Hunter will. occupy the Trinity Methodist pulpit in' the morning. In the evening the Rev. C. H. Olds will speak on ‘Jesus the Messiah.’ The choir will render the anthem ‘O Zion That Bringest Good-Tidings ’ (Stainer) and Miss Phyllis West will sing ‘ Sleep, Holy Babe.’ At 7.50 p.m. the choir, assisted by leading singers, will render a special carol service. A carol service will also be held, at the Woodhaugh Methodist Church at U a.m., the soloists being Miss Tyrell and Mr Walter Prictor. •

Special Christmas services will ■be held at the Methodist Central Mission at- 11 a.m., 2.30 p.m., and 6.30 p.m. The Rev. L. B. Neale will conduct services. In the evening the soloists will be Mrs E. Cameron, of Christchurch. Christmas music will be rendered by the choir. _ Christmas choral services will be held at Dundas Street Methodist Church, junior choir (Mrs Scott) in the morning, church choir (Mr W. School carol service, 11 a.m. This year the Christmas music by the Hanover Street Baptist Church Choir will be in the nature of a carol service. Several of the ladies of the church have kindly consented to suitably decorate the church in keeping with Christmas time, holly and white lilies being the chief feature of these decorations, which undoubtedly should have a pleasing effect to the eye, and help to create atmosphere in' the singing of such carols as ‘ The First Nowel,’ ‘ O Como All Ye Faithful,’ and ‘ Silent Night,’ also two excerpts from Handel’s ‘ Messiah —‘ And the Glory ’ and the ‘ Hallelujah Chorus ’—will be, heard by the large choir. Miss Gwenda Burt will be heard in .a solo, ‘ Givo Thanks and Sing,’ i composed by Cuthbert Harris; and the recitative and aria from Handel’s ‘ Messiah ’—‘ Thus Saith the Lord’’ jaiid ‘ But Who May Abide ’—will be rendered by Mr Arthur Lungley. Dr J. J. North will preach, his subject, being ‘ Christmas Anew.’ Miss P. Westland, at the organ, will play two voluntaries, ‘ Pastoral Symphony,’ from the ‘Messiah,’ and on Handel’s theme,- ‘Lift Up Your Heads,’ by Guilmant. A quartette comprising Misses B. and M. Shrimpton, Messrs It. Butler and F. Jenkins will be heard in the carol O Come All Ye Faithful,’ and Miss Walker will take the solo part in ‘ Silent Night.’ The choir, as usual, will be under the baton of Mr James Simpson. ', At the North-east Valley Baptist Church at 8 p.m. an augmented choir will render a programme of Christmas carols and excerpts from ‘The Messiah.’. ; The soloists will b? Mr G. Scott and Miss Dora Drake. Christmas services will be conducted by the Rev. Albert Mead at the Moray Place Congregational Church. The morning devotions bearing on Christmas will be largely to the young people. In the evening appropriate music will be rendered by the choir, including ‘ Christmas, Awake,’ ‘O Come All Ye ’ Faithful,’ and carols. Children’s Day will be observed at the United Congregational Church. A special choir of young people will sing at both services. In the morning there will be demonstrations by the children, a christening service, and prize giving. , The' Rev. C. G. Hodlcy Bycroft will speak at both services, his evening subject being ‘ The Battlements of the House.’ At the Gospel Marquee, King Edward street. South Dunedin, Evangelist W. J. Richards will speak on the subject ‘ The Completed Reformation,’ and will use, as a basis the Vision of the Breach in the Wall as given to Ezekiel. At the Theosophical Society Miss F. Starkey will take as her subject ‘ Gifts for the King—Their Acceptance (A Tale of Long Ago).’ At the Spiritualist Church to-morrow evening Sister Lily will give an address entitled ‘The Secret of Sin and Pain,’ and will give personal clairvoyant spiritual messages. There will be open session at the break-up of the Lyceum in the afternoon, and the Healing Centre will meet on Thursday evening. First Church of Christ Scientist will conduct services in Allbell Chambers, ■ls'V Stuart street. The subject for the morning and evening services will, be ‘ Is the Universe, Including Mali, Evolved by Atomic Force?’ <
