FIRE ENGINE OVERTURNS

SIX MEH THROWN OR TO STREET LUCKY ESCAPES ; [Per Hutted Press Association.} NAPIER, December 14. Overturning while completing a double turn into Munroe street, the Napier Fire Board’s No. 4 engine threw clear on to the bitumen surface sis firemen who were being conveyed to a fire at 3.45 this afternoon. All the men had miraculous escapes from serious injury. Minor injuries only resulted, and were confined to Fireman Bruce Hawkins, who suffered a cut on the chin, and Foreman W. Ennor, a cut on the wrist. The four _ others escaped with nothing more serious than a bruising. None of the firemen' whs able to account for the accident, except that the machine developed a skid while completing the turn. The machine was damaged to some extent. The irony of the accident was that the fire was tinguished with a garden hose before the reserve engine arrived.
