LIBEL ACTION

CLAIM FOR £SOO [Per United Press Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, December 13. Hearing of the claim for £SOO damages for alleged libel, brought by Jollands Ltd., manufacturing agents, Wellington, against H. F. Stevens Ltd., wholesale druggists, was continued in the Supreme Court to-day. Henry George Stevens, managing director of Stevens Ltd., resumed his evidence for the defence, and was further cross-examined by counsel for the plaintiff. ! He said he now realised that it was very serious to say that Jollands was practically in liquidation, though • he was convinced in his own mind that they were still in difficulties. Had Jollands gone into liquidation, his own firm would have been left with a big supply of toothpaste which would not be advertised. He never cnotemplated that his firm might get M‘Lean’s agency. The case is proceeding. 1
