GERMAN SHIPS
PURCHASED BY AUSTRALIAN FIRM Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright SYDNEY, December 10. (Received December 11, tit 1.30 a.in.) The Burns, Philp Company has purchased the Neptun and the Merkur. The sale is said to be the outcome of the desire of the German shipping firm to facilitate co-operation on international shipping as well as to reach a friendly understanding in regard to the requirements of British and Australian lines. [A message received from Berlin on Saturday stated: —The North German Lloyd Line announces that it has abandoned its Australia-Cbiim service. The motor vessels Neptun and Merkur have been sold to an Australian firm.]
