BUILD UP HOME MARKET
LABOUR LEADER'S ADVICE [Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON. December iO. In an address at Upper Hutt tdr" night, the Leader ,of the Opposition (Mr M. J. Savage) stated. Ins view with regard to the tendency towards restricted markets overseas for primary products. He'said that greater attention should be given to the development of internal markets. In many lines New Zealand manufacturers compare favourably .with anything ip the world. The .manufacturers ■ themselves were giving to more scientific forms of organisation' and if given the assistance deserved secondary industries Would provide remunerative positions for thousands of young people who were leaving school and finding it difficult, if not impossible, to find employment. If (dominion exports wei'e to be restricted there appeared to be only one logical alternative^—namely, to build up a home market. There was no reason, for waiting for the iforld to move before; beginning to put our own house in order!
