The regular meeting of Lily of the Valley, No. 11 U.A.0.D., was held in the Albany Street Hall on Wednesday last, when a fair attendance of brethren greeted Arch Druid Bro. A. M'Cutcheon. One new member wa’s initiated in an impressive manner by the lodge officers. Further letters of congratulation wore received from Bay Lodge, West Harbour Lodge, Linden Lodge, and Pride of Mornington Lodge on the lodge’s performance in'gaining first place with Mistletoe Lodge in the recent efficiency competition. Bro. B. Reid reported on attending the United Friendly Societies’ Dispensary Committee, and was thanked. The: bards reported on visiting sick members, and sick pay amounting to £5 was passed for payment. Bro. M'Bratnoy and V. Bro. Wahrlich reported on attending Mistletoe Lodge on November 6, and commented on the very poor response of lodges and brethren to the invitation. The Visitors’ Toast was responded to by the following brethren: —P.A. Bro. 11. Finder (of Ivanhoe Lodge), D.A. Bro. J. Patterson (West Harbour) and P.A. Bro. H. Tyrrell (Linden). The toast of the newly-initi-ated brother was replied to by Bro. Reid. An enjoyable meeting was brought to a close in harmony. The fortnightly meeting of Linden Lodge, No. 5 U.A.0.D., took place in the Oddfellows’ Hall, Roslyn, on Tuesday last, A.D. Bro. Isaacs presiding. Correspondence included an invitation to attend Mistletoe Lodge, the occasion being the presentation of the efficiency shield. The lodge was unable to attend, hut forwarded its congratulations to Mistletoe and Lily of the Valley. The judges’ report was received and fully discussed. It was decided to write to Linden Pride Lodge and congratulate it on Winning the juvenile efficiency shield. Sick pay continues to he heavy, and one member has been lost. Grand Lodge remits eaino under some discussion. Linden Lodge decided to visit All Nations Lodge, Port Chalmers, by surprise, providing supper. A good muster promised to attend. The nomination and election of officers will take place next meeting, and the nomination of D.P. for the coming term, P.A.’s'Bros, Patterson, of West Harbour, and Bro. H. Tyrrell, of Linden, being the candidates. Supper was served and ail hour spent at cards. Bay Lodge, No. 18 U.A.0.D., held its fortnightly meeting in the Masonic Hall, St. Hilda, on Monday, when Arch Druid Bro. Thos, Wassell was greeted by a good attendance of members. P.D.P. Bro. Cecil Macintosh, of Alexandra, paid the lodge a visit and was cordially received, as also were P.D.P. Bro* May bee and P.A Bro. W. Leathley. of Enterprise, and Past Arch Bro. T. Clark, of Royal Oak Lodge. Feeling reference was made to the death of the late. Bro. W. S.. Clancey, the lodge going into mourning out of respect for the deceased . brother. The sick bards reported an improver ment in several members, and sick pay to the amount of £lO 16s 8d was passed for payment. The 1933 syllabus in now in the hands nf the members, and the lodge expressed appreciation of the efforts of those responsible for tlic publication. P.G.P. Bro. G. Vilson reported on the work of the Southern Oak Lodge, and thanked the lodge for the support given by the adult members attending and assisting. The toasts were given and replied to by the visitors mentioned.
