Conversazione at the Museum. As a social function, the annual conversazione of the Association of Friends of the Museum and the Otago Institute is always a groat success. The beautiful Willi Fels wing lends itself admirably, and on Thursday, with its very pretty floral decorations, sent by Mr D. Tannock from the Gardens, and with its bright lights'looked particularly attractive. Large brass bowls filled with blue and purple irises and Solomon seal were placed on the landing and stairs, and crystal vases with Iceland poppies adorned the supper tables, which were set out in the Maori House. The guests were received by Dr Beuham, Dr and Mrs Hercus, Mrs H. D. Skinner, and Mr Willi Fels, and enjoyed a pleasant time in viewing the special exhibits—a easeful of manuscripts arid drawings recently acquired by the Hocken Library, and a loan exhibition of European pottery, stoneware, and porcelain. After examining the treasures the guests repaired to the Maori House for supper. Since last conversazione the tuku tuku panelling of the walls has been completed and was the subject of a short explanatory speech made by Mr H. D. Skinner while supper was in progress. Among the' large number of guests were Mr Justice Kennedy and Mrs Kennedy, Sir Louis and Lady Barnett, Sir James and Lady Allen, Mr and Mrs W. D. Anderson, Mr and Mrs W. J. Burrell, Mr and Mrs G. S.
