TEPID BATHS.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —As a regular attender at the tepid batlis, I would like to draw the attention of the council to some matters which I think should bo remedied immediately in the interests of adult patrons. To all who attend during the mixed bathing hours, particularly from 3 to 5 on Saturday afternoon, it must be apparent that there is a lack of control which does not induce people to go to the baths if they want a quiet and enjoyable swim.. Unruly boys and youths are allowed to splash people on the sidewalks, jump in, and dive right underneath the diving boards without the slightest check being kept on their actions. I understand that there are usually several of the baths staff on duly at the one time, so surely it should be possible for them to move about the precincts of the pool and see that there is some semblance of order. Nowhere else in the dominion are conditions so unruly as exist here, and if the council desires to encourage people to learn to swim it should see to it that they are able to do so without fear of being ducked ” or of being jumped upon by some person jumping wildly from the edge. It is a fact that most of the boxes do not possess snibs to the doors. Surely this can be remedied at little expense. It would be a big improvement, too, if the terribly slippery 'sidewalks could have cork matting or some such material placed upon them. After there has been a big number of people in the water the floors become so slippery that it is a wonder to me that more accidents have not occurred there.—l am, etc., Observant. November 15,
