RETURN OF POPULAR MUSICAL COMEDY

‘ YES, MR BROWN/ FOR MAYFAIR Lilting melodies, wholesome humour, and delightful and tuneful music are provided in ‘ Yes, Mr Brown,’ a bright musical comedy, starring the popular British actor Jack Buchanan, which, together with ‘ Wings Over Africa,’ an aerial record of a flight from Croydon to Cape Town, commences at the Mayfair to-morrow. The picture, which is based on a stage play which enjoyed wide popularity in Germany and Austria about three years ago, shows a definite advance in British film technique. Jack Buchanan is as versatile as ever, and contributes largely to the success of the film, his singing and dancing being an entertainment in themselves. .The story unfolds through several amusing situations, which provide delightful entertainment, to a fitting climax, when the manager and his wife are reconciled and Mr Brawn marries the secretary. Mr Buchanan takes the honours as the manager, and he is ably supported by Hortley Power, who as Mr Brown provides many of the humorous incidents in the story. Margot Grahame gives an excellent portrayal as the manager’s wife, while Elsie Randolph is well suited in the role of the secretary, and sings delightfully. Vera Pearce gives a splendid performance. . .
