BRITISH ISRAELISM.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —May I draw your attention/to a very important omission in your report of my remarks in the Assembly and recorded in to-day’s paper?' I am made to say that there was Scriptural proof that the ten tribes camo back from India and were absorbed. What I did say was there was no Scriptural proof that they came back. This was to refute the contention that the ten tribes were never lost. It is true that Dr Wade in his book says that 27,000 people were deported, but this is a denial of Bible teaching, which says (ii. Kings, 17', 18): “Therefore the Lord was very angry with Israel, and iremoved them out of His sight; there was none left but the tribe of Judah only.” Proof positive is found in verses 26-27-28, which contain a request from those who were brought in to take the place of the deported people. They requested the King of Assyria to send back a priest to teach them the manner of the God of the land, and this was done. If only 27,000 people were carried away the above situation could not have arisen. In regard to the establishing of Bri-tish-Israel churches, which were mentioned by one speaker, 1 read the following to the Assembly in order to show the attitude of the British-!srael World Federation to such a practice “ The Dominion Executive of the official branch of the British-Israel World Federation in New Zealand desires to state that the establishment of British Israel churches is directly antagonistic to the policy of the World Federation, which is that the movement throughout the world is interdenominational, its aim being to be an ally of the churches and not a rival thereto; further, that the New Zealand branch does not accept responsibility for statements made on public platforms, or otherwise, by speakers not authorised to speak under the auspices of the New Zealand branch.” —I am, etc., J- S: Pate.
