NO. 4 DISTRICT DANCE The No. 4 District Social Committee’s dance will take place in the South Dunedin Town Hall this evening. Special features will be on the programme and there will he in addition to the two Monte Carlos, two lucky door numbers. One of the prizes will be a lady’s permanent wave, which is an exceptionally good prize. . Supper may be procured by those requiring it at a small charge; On Saturday, November 24, from the dance held by the same committee, it has been decided to give all the proceeds to the mayoress’s children’s party. The programme has been arranged to suit those who require either old-time or modern dancing. GROUP TD REPORT The reserves department group (604) will report for work at 8 o’clock tomorrow morning at. the Opoho Football Ground, REGISTRATIONS 0 A FURTHER DECLINE [Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, November 14. The report of the Unemployment Board on the registration of unemploved as at October 27 shows a further decline in the total number of males who are wholly or partly a charge on the Unemployment * uud. The decrease recorded since the previous month is 2,162, and it is noteworthy that, with one exception, the total of 59,230 recorded at June 9, 1934, the present total of 59,327 is the. lowest experienced since March 31, 1932. A comparison of the latest returns with the figures recorded a year ago reveals a still more improved position. The number in receipt of part-time employment under scheme No. 5 or on sustenance in lieu of relief work as at October 27, 1934, was 37,003, compared with 43,605 on October 28, 1933, or a decrease of 6,602. The number in full-time employment, but assisted by wages subsidies from the Unemployment Fund, was 22.324 on the same date, compared with 31,641 a year ago, a decrease of 9.317. This makes tlie total number who are a charge on the Unemployment Fund 59,32/, as compared with 75,246 a year ago, or a total reduction of 15,919.
