UNDULANT FEVER
DEATH FROM RARE CONTAGION [Per United Press Association'.] CHRISTCHURCH. November 15. The death of an elderly man, caused bv iimlulant lever, was reported by the inspector of the Waiman County Council at the meeting last night, iho infection was caught by drinking milk from a cow infected witli the germs after having suffered from contagious abortion. , . . , The Inspector said it was the only case he had known in \\aimarj, although hp, had known of lour such cases in the North Island. It was not until recently specified as undulent fever. Jn all cases the person affected were great milk drinkers, or were continually handling cattl cor milk. i»© man who had died had drunk laigo quantities from the particular cow. A member said ho had known ot the disease for some time. It had been commonly treated as influenza. 4 The Inspector said the disease was not the result of flirty diaries, but ot a germ in a few cows.
