QUEEN CARNIVAL RAISES £lso

FORBURY QUEEN WINS COMPETITION Concluded amidst much excitement in the St. Kilda Coronation Hall on Saturday night, the queen carnival, organised by the South Duuedin branch of the Labour Party in aid of the election campaign fund, was responsible for the collection of £l5O 5s 7d. Voting in the queen competition having been closed, the officials had a strenuous task counting and checking the tickets sold for the various candidates, and the announcement of the winner was greeted enthusiastically by the large crowd present. Following are details of the competitions:—

Forbury Queen (Miss Trixie Ruttledge), 12,072 points Hillside Queen (Miss Patricia Don),

10,741 points 2 Sports Queen' (Miss Lorraine Stevenson), 9,599 points 3 St. Kilda Queen (Miss Dawn Harvey), 3,92-1 points ... ... 4 During the afternoon a successful children's fancy dress parade was held, the awards being as follow:—Poster — Bill Chronican 1, Jim Chronical! 2; fancy dress—Ethel Robinson 1, Varol Peters 2; special—Gordon M'lntosh. Judged on Saturday, the baking and sweets competitions resulted:—Assorted sweets —Mrs Harrison 1, Mrs Kilpatrick 2; cocoanut ice—Mrs Kilpatrick; toffee—Mrs Kilpatrick 1, Mrs Scoones 2; butter sponge—Mrs Hudson ; plain sponge—Mrs Holden; fruit cake—Mrs Hudson 1, Mrs Holden 2, Mrs Niven 3. UNITED CONGREGATIONAL! STS' BAZAAR. Following were the results of the baking competitions held in conjunction with the United Congregational Church bazaar in the Knox Sunday School Hall on Friday;—Butter sponge sandwich, iced—Mrs Bird 1, Mrs W.
