200 CHICKENS ROASTED

EXPLOSION IN BROODER HOUSE [Special to the ‘ Star.’] AUCKLAND, October 8. The destruction by fire of a brooder house and its contents, which included 200 day-old chickens, and twelve other birds, occurred at Onehunga last_ evening. The owner was Mr Robert Nelson, of Victoria street, who estimates his loss at £25. The origin of the outbreak, Mr Nelson considers, was the explosion of a kerosene beating lamp in the brooder. He had taken delivery of the chickens only .yesterday afternoon.
