RUGBY

NORTH V. SOUTH ISLAND MATCH Tho match between the North and South Island reams to be played at Carisbrook on Saturday should provide one of the finest games seen in Dunedin for some time. Although several players have been unable to take part in this match owing to injuries and other reasons, both Islands will be represented by players who arc in the forefront of Rugby. The North Island team is considered a good all-round side, and the forwards are a solid combination. The appearance, in the pack of Ron Bush, who represented Otago and the University as a full-back when he played in Dunedin has aroused interest in football circles. The South Island team is also strong in backs and forwards. Given a dry day this match should provide one of the most spectacular games seen in Dunedin for a long time. Mr T. J. Oughton, of Invercargill, will be referee. As a cur-tain-raiser a match between ZingariRichmond and Matakanui will be played. The Artillery Band will bo in attendance. The box plan is now open at Begg’s. and will close at 11.30 a.m. on Saturday. Official guides will lie on sale at the Otago Sports Depot, Jacobs’s, and at Carisbrook, and besides containing full particulars regarding the teams, will include interesting notes and reading matter.
