A POLISH SUCCESS Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright WARSAW, September 26. (Received September 27, at 10.30 a.in.) The Polish balloon Kosciusko won the Gordon Bennett Race, landing in Finland. It covered 807 miles. Polish balloons were also second and third. [The Gordon Bennett Cup was given by the late James Gordon Bennett, who in 1872 succeeded his father in the ownership of the great New York daily paper, the ‘ Herald.’ Mr Bennett was the man who sent Stanley to Central Africa to find Livingstone in 1869. Mr Bennett also gave a cup for motoring. The balloon race was first held some years before the war. The record distance is 1,895 miles, by Germany. The British record is 1,117 miles.]
