ROWING

OTAGO ASSOCIATION A meeting of the Otago Rowing Association was held last night, the president (Mr W- G. Glengarry) presiding. The chairman extended a welcome to Mr W. J. Reimiek, of the University Club, and Mr T. Porter, of the Queen’s Drive Chib, both men being new delegates to the association. Owing to the illness of the secretary it was decided to hold the annual meeting early next month. The Queenstown Regatta Club notified that it had no intention of abandoning the Easter regatta, it was suggested that the association might be able to hold the interprovincial eightoar championship at Queenstown at Easter. —Received. Application was made by the Otago Club for permission to use the eightoar boat in the club’s house for the “ learn to row ” week being conducted by the club from October 6 to October 13.—Permission granted. The North End Club made application for the custody of the eight-oared boat for the coming season, and also for the use of the tackle belonging to the boat—lt was decided to leave the boat in the Otago Rowing Club’s shed, hut during training lor the interclub eight-oared event the boat should be boused at the Otago and North End sheds alternately. It was decided to apply to the Now Zealand Association for permission to hold the championship eights at Dunedin on Easter Saturday. It was decided to nominate W. J. Wilson as president of the New Zealand Association, and Air H. Patou as a member of the council. A suggestion was made that the association might hold a regatta on the Waitaki hydro clam on the occasion of the opening of the dam, provided the Government would agree to this, and it was decided that steps should be taken to ascertain whether or not the proposal would receive the Government’s assent.
