PRICE OF MILK.
TO THE EDITOK. Sir,—lf Claude Daivmnan ” will read the cheaper milk letters ho will see that the public arc objecting to tbe huge profits made by tire milk vendors. If a farmer can afford to sell bis milk at Gd a gallon, surely Is a gallon—3d a quart—which works out at 100 per cent, profit, ought to satisfy the milk vendor. In Mosgiel a horse and cart,* 1 and a boy at 7s 6d a week, are the only expenses incurred by a milk vendor', and 100 per cent # would cover those and leave a handsome profit for himself. 233 per cent, is just over the odds. What other tradesman can show 233 per cent, profit? If the public of Dunedin buy their cream at Is (id a pint they are lucky. In Mosgiel we pay 2s a pint.—l am, etc., Cheapen Mjj.k. September 26.
