Tracey, honorary secretary to the council of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association, is at present visiting Dunedin. The appointments of Mr James Begg and Mr Thomas Andrew Duncan as producers’ representatives on the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board are gazetted. A ‘ Gazette ’ notice announces the appointments of Mr Frederick Edgar Nottage and Mr Alexander Morris Robertson as representative of the producers on the. New Zealand Fruit Export Control Board. ■ Mr F. E. Hutchinson, who has held the lectureship in forest utilisation at Canterbury College up till the recent closing of the Forestry School, has been appointed to a position in Melbourne on the forest products laboratory staff of the Australian Council of Scientific and Industrial Research. Mr Gordon Hamilton, a fanner, of Hapnki, announces that he will contest the Hurunui seat as a Liberal (says a Christchurch Press Association telegram). An Association message from Palmerston North states that Sir William Perry, of Masterton, was unanimously elected chairman of Massey College ' Council-for the remainder of the year, to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Sir George Fowlds. At the meeting of the council, tribute's were paid to Sir George’s services to the institution, of which he had been chairman since its inception, and a motion of condolence with the relatives was passed.
