Mr J. Tait arrived from Invercargill y to-day’s express to attend a sitting f the War Pensions Appeal Board. Mr and Mrs A. Stewart, en route or Sydney, were passengers -by this norning’s second express for the mrth Mr B. C. Smith, who has been in lunedin on business for the last aonth, left by the second express thi* oorning on his return trip to Hobart. Mr R. M. Greenslade and Miss E, reenslade left for Sydney to-day. The chief contest at the Ashburton rompetitions, the Tucker Memorial rophy for piano players resulted: iarjo'rie M'Dowell (Dunedin) test, 95; Vht, 90: own selection, 89; total, /4; Audrey Ruddock (Ashburton), 3, 87, 92;—265. There were five cometitors.—Press Association. Reference to the deaths of five memers of the Otago Justices of the Peace ssociation—Messrs G. L. Denniston, I. Ferguson, George Ritchie, J.
