JUSTICES OF THE PEACE
ANNUAL MEETING OF ASSOCIATION The annual meeting of the Otago Justices of the Peace Association was held in the Law Courts last night, the president (Mr G. W. Watts) presiding over a large attendance of members. The annual report (already published) was adopted on the motion of the chairman, who briefly traversed the association’s activities during the year, and paid a tribute to the work of Mr J. W. Dove, who had arranged the musical programmes and the visits to the Dunedin Public Hospital. The adaption of the balance-sheet was moved by the treasurer, Mr W. Connor, who commented upon the largo number of outstanding subscriptions, but said the finances of the association were in a healthy condition. The report was then adopted. OFFICE-BEARERS. The following officers were elected: — President, Mr T. D. B. Paterson; vicepresident, Mr W. Connor; councillors, Messrs H. Smith and F. G. Gumming; registrar, Mr J. W. Patton; treasurer, Mr A. D. Sutherland; honorary auditors, Messrs H. G. Smith and H. llenfreo. GENERAL. The secretary presented the pro-, visional report of the committee set up to make tentative arrangements for the tenth annual conference of the Federation of New Zealand Justices’ Association to be held in Dunedin next March. —The matter was referred to the incoming committee. The arrangements for the supply ana distribution of the association’s new medallions were left to the incoming committee , , ~ , , It was decided to send letters to two indisposed members of the association, Messrs J. W Griffin and J. W. Dove, expressing regret of their inability to attend the meeting, and thanking them for their work on the association in the i past.
