HIS THIRD MUSICAL FARCE

JACK BUCHANAN'FOR OCTA6ON 1 4 ’That’s a Good Girl ’ is the third British and Dominions picture in which Jack Buchanan has starred. How Herbert Wilcox acquired the services of Britain’s most popular stage figure is still recent history—it was soon after Buchanan’s return from- America, where he had starred in Monte Carlo ’ with Jeanette MacDonald that the announcement of the British and Dominions’ capture was made. Then followed the news of Jack Buchanans first subject, a musical called Good Night, Vienna,’ which proved that Jack Buchanan was the biggest box-of-fice name in British pictures. Jack Buchanan had shown such an accurate knowledge of popular taste in making certain suggestions for incorporation in 4 Good Night, Vienna, that Herbert Wilcox : assigned him to direct himself in his f next picture. Tins was’ 4 Yes, Mr Brown,’ based on a Continental success—a gay aud irresponsible story of mistaken identity-—and it gave further evidence of Jack Bucnanan’s popularity. Now comes 4 That’s a Good Girl, adapted from the most famous of all Buchanan’s stage shows, made, with that scrupulous care which distinguishes Jack Buchanan as producer and director. It had a rapturous reception as its London premiere. In it Buchanan is in his element in the kind of entertainment which has made his reputation on the stage—musical farce, with more farce than music.
