KILDA The Coronation Hall, St. Kilda, was well filled last evening for the concert given to augment the funds of the mayor’s relief depot. Omdah the magician was the chief attraction, and ho held his audience’s attention by his illusions and tricks. A strong siipporting programme was contributed to by the following Joy Grey (miniature Ella Shields), Miss Olive West (piano solos), Miss Dixon (soprano solos), Mr J. Paterson (Scottisli comedian), “ Uncle Ben” of 4ZO (accordion solos), Miss Irene Scott (acrobatic specialty), Miss Molly Baker (elocutionary items), Mr J. Douglas (songs), Miss .Edna Agnew (novelty dances), and Mr M. Garland (saxophone solos). .Tho Chairman (Mr A. Morrison) thanked the performers and the accompanists (Miss Olive West, Mrs J. Douglas, and Mr Phelan) . He anounced another concert for next Sunday organised by Mr James R. H, Carpenter and including tho Phillips family and Keith Desmond (tho Australian monologist). UNEMPLOYMENT FINANCE FIGURES FOR YEAR READY [Special to the ‘ Star.’] WELLINGTON, May 20. The Unemployment Board has just completed two days’ conference with the Minister, the Hon. Adam Hamilton, arid the financial position for the year was made available, enabling the board to complete its plans for the difficult period which has just been reached. Palmerston North and Auckland are the two centres in which the problems of administration are most urgent, and, following his usual practice, Mr Hamilton proposes to give these points his personal attention. He will be in Palmerston North on Tuesday, and, having been invited to address the Citizens’ Lunch Club, he will devote the talk to the sustenance arrangement, which has been so much criticised in that city. A few, days later the Minister will go to Auckland to confer with those concerned in unemployment relief.
