The world’s oldest music hall, Barmaid's Theatre, High street, Chatham, where Charlie Chaplin first practised his famous walk and other famous comedians first appeared, was com.pletely destroyed by fire. In the early days the proprietors gave three hours of good entertainment for one penny.
