“KICKING THE BOTTLE.” The centuries old custom of “Kicking the bottle,” held every Easter Monday at Haliaton, Leicestershire, was carried out as usual this year. After the cutting of the hare pie, which is seen being done here, the pieces were thrown to the crowd, following which the residents of rival villages attempted to kick a “bottle” (a small keg), over the boundaries of the parish.
