OTAGO CENTRE MEETING A meeting of the Otago Centre of the Now Zcalaud Amateur Athletic Association was held in the U.S.A. rooms Inst night, the vice-president (Mr .13. H. Rosevear) being in the chair. OLYMPIC GAMES NOMINATIONS. The Secretary of the New Zealand Council wrote stating that the council was not prepared to forward E. C. Brown's nomination to the New Zealand Olympic and British Empire Games Association. The names that had been forwarded by the association were .). K. Lovelock, H. K. Brainshy, T. G. Broadway.—it was decided to write to the council and to the centre's delegates asking why Brown's nomination was not sent forward. CORRESPONDENCE. A copy of a bulletin was received from the West Coast (North Island) Centre in order that the local association might know what was being done in the West Coast district.—Received. A letter from the secretary of the New Zealand Council acknowledged receipt of the Otago Centro's letter in reference to the record application by ■J.-P. Metcalfe. Jn connection with the paragraph concerning tho judge's certificate that the measuring tape was correct, it was necessary to forward a certificate that the tape was correct according to standard measure.—• Received. Tho Dunedin Jockey Club wrote advising that the centre's application for the uso of YVingatui racecourse on Saturday, May 20. had been granted. The Secretary of the Alexandra Harrier and Amateur Athletic Club wrote applying for affiliation to the Otago Centre.—The application was held over
until tho club’s certificates were received. E. W. Fish wrote applying for a transfer from the Invercargill Amateur Athletic Club to the Pacific Harrier Amateur Athletic, and Cycling Club.— Granted. . C. S. Millin’s application for a transfer from the Anglican Club to the St. Patrick’s Club was granted. Stating that the date suggested by the centre for holding the New Zealand cross-country championship (August 2. r j) had been approved, a letter was received from the secretary of the New Zealand Council.—Received. FINANCE. Accounts amounting to £2B Is Cd were passed for; payment. GENERAL. It was 'decided to write to the Wellington Centro asking for an explanation why C. Pope (St. Hilda Club) was officially set down as having tied for third place in the New Zealand Marathon when the newspaper reports stated that he finished alone in the third place. It was decided that letters of appreciation for past services he sent to Messrs J. A. Bond and G. D. M'Laclilan, who were retiring as delegates to the centre from the Hanover Baptist and tho Otago University Clubs respectively.—Mr 1,. R. M’Millan was appointed delegate in the place of Mr Bond. The application of A. R. Donnelly for reinstatement to . amateur status was referred to the New Zealand Council with a favourable recommendation.
