NORTH-EAST HARBOUR

MEETING OF RATEPAYERS The annual meeting of members of the North-east Harbour Ratepayers and Householders’ Association was hela last evening at Macandrew Bay. Mr &• Bewley occupied the chair, and there was a large attendance of residents. In moving the adoption of the annual report and balance sheet, the chairman referred to the large amount of useful work that had been done during the year in the way of improvements to the district, and especially to the local hall. It was pleasing to note that thex'e was a small credit balance, and that there had been a reduction in the bank overdraft. The chairman made an appeal for greater membership so that the association might be strengthened, not only financially, but also for the purposes of the work it hoped to do. He reported that £3o had been distributed by the association lor the relief of unemployment during the year. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. . , . There was a discussion on the desirability of securing a reduction in the lighting charges, ways and means ol raising funds to assist the various sports bodies in the district, and the possibility of forming a bowling club. 'The election of officers for the ing year resulted; —Secretary, Mr A\ . Brookman ; committee —Messrs ■). MTherson, A. M'Hutchon, C. S.Free, F. S. Grigg, J. Hellyer, H. Sutherland, H. Patrick, and H. Gregory. At a subsequent meeting of the committee Mr M'Hutcbou was elected chairman for the term.
