MILES OF ROPE
EXTENSIVE PRODUCTIONS OF DONAGHY'S The well-known firm of Donaghy’s Hope and Twine Company Ltd., with headquarters here, and branches at Auckland and Invercargill, still keeps to the forefront as cordage and twine manufacturers. Since 1870 the .Dunedin factory has been producing Manila and other ropes for use on the waterfront and inland, and ever since the harvester appeared they have manufactured binder twines from New Zealand flax, to meet the requirements of the farmers in harvesting their crops. Their “ Hercules ” and “ Diamond ’’ brand Manila ropes are used for shipping throughout the dominion. At their Auckland branch they have now installed a plant for making counter and shop twines from Italian, Indian hemp, Jute, and cotton, and these twines are beginning to be known to different users throughout New Zealand. Their factories arc equipped with the most modern machinery, with facilities for making ropes of the standard length of 120 fatho'ms and longer.
